WeBuyCars has added two new vehicle supermarkets to its network as the group targets expanded sales.

The JSE-listed vehicle retailer currently moves between 15 000 and 16 000 cars a month. The goal, however, is to buy and sell 23 000 vehicles a month by the 2028 financial year.

The new retail points are the Lansdowne Supermarket, in Cape Town’s southern suburbs, and the Montana Supermarket, in Pretoria north.

Together, the two developments have created 240 jobs across operations, sales, logistics and support services.

Construction of the Lansdowne Supermarket began in January last year.

Spanning 5.23 ha – more than five rugby fields – the site has a two-level warehouse with an indoor capacity for roughly 1 200 vehicles.

According to WeBuyCars, the facility is the largest vehicle supermarket of its kind in the Western Cape.

Construction on the Montana Supermarket started in May.

Positioned along Sefako Makgatho drive, the supermarket features a 15 150 m² indoor warehouse – almost one-and-a-half rugby fields in size – with space for about 600 vehicles, complemented by an outdoor retail area that accommodates a further 600 vehicles.

Both supermarkets have been developed with sustainability in mind, says WeBuyCars.

Their wash bays recycle and reuse up to 90% of the water consumed, while borehole systems and rainwater harvesting reduce reliance on municipal water supplies.

PV solar installations support on-site energy requirements.
